All-day Yoga, meditation, talks, stalls, classes for kids and yummy vegan food!
Kingstonians have a reason to rejoice. The much-loved annual Yoga fiesta is back in a bigger and better avatar. Kingston Yoga and Vegan festival will take place on January 28th (it’s a Sunday, yay!) at Hollyfield School, Surbiton. More than 40 sessions (Yoga, meditation, talks) including classes for children have been scheduled for the day-long festival.
30 teachers are teaching at the festival. Spiritual music performances have also been planned for the day.The event is being organized by Yogific, a community organization that aims to create awareness about Yoga and veganism.
This year’s festival has a special focus on mental health. You can expect to find quite a few talks, meditation/yoga sessions and workshop addressing anxiety and depression. “It is time to get rid of the taboo attached to mental health. According to statistics, 1 in 4 struggles with a mental health issue in the UK. However, very few people seek professional help or talk about it publically.
We wanted to bring this issue to the forefront because many of our teachers and speakers have had students who struggled with mental health disorders. In fact, some of our Yoga teachers have survived chronic depression”, say members of Yogific.
Besides attending Yoga and meditation sessions, visitors can also shop for vegan products from over 50 stalls, and treat their taste buds to a wide range of vegan (and gluten-free) food at the festival.
The entry ticket is only £5 when bought online and £6 on-the-door. The entry fee entitles you to attend all sessions and entry is on a first-come basis. There is free entry for all children below 14 years of age.
