Meet Your Yoga Teachers
Meet our lovely team of Yoga teachers, speakers and performers who are coming together to make Brussels Yoga and Vegan Festival an unforgettable experience for you.
Suzanne Ibrahim-Fay is a multi-passionate creative spirit and feminist woman, a certified yoga and meditation teacher and wellness expert and entrepreneur. She is passionate about helping busy modern-day women realise their full potential, integrate self-care and compassion and develop a balanced lifestyle (work, family, leisure, food and body).
Based in Brussels, her favourite things include eating (especially chocolate), travelling, mountains, yoga (duh) and outdoor adventures (hiking, skiing, cycling). She is a feminist and climate change activist, and self-development and growth junkie.
She decided to transition from her work as an architect to work as a yoga teacher and a wellness entrepreneur after she realised that her regular yoga practice had changed her life not just physically but mentally and spiritually. Indeed, yoga helped her to overcome some rough emotional times (burn out, depression, confidence issues), to manage her chronic illness and overall, to find more balance, peace, ease and self-love in her life. Getting fitter was just the icing on the cake.
She knew that if yoga and mindset work could transform her life so powerfully it could do so for many others. She felt her calling to help women that are in similar situations ie. overachieving-perfectionist-people-pleasing-nurturers find their balance (work-life-family) and their power so that they can blossom and live on purpose.
Her approach is informed by feminism, minimalism, mindfulness, self-compassion, yoga philosophy, healthy eating, and her own lived experiences (overachiever, perfectionist, living with chronic illness, body image issues, strong patriarchal family). She provides personalised guidance in-person and online through yoga (group and private) classes, meditation, journaling, workshops and coaching.

“No matter how relaxed you are, you can always relax more” – Cora Verkuilen
More than 20 years ago Cora Verkuilen (1969) started soul searching and started her journey in practicing thoroughly different styles of yoga, meditation and Pranayama. On top of that she also became a Reiki Master and followed numerous (international) courses to expand her awareness and master her skills.
In 2007 Cora founded her yoga- and breathing company Yogatrainer (www.yogatrainer.nl) in Eindhoven. At Yogatrainer you are taught -through yoga and breath training- how to master your mind and body. In 2012 -2013 she educated 25 yoga trainees in a Train the Trainer program.
Cora has been teaching for over ten years in numerous styles like Poweryoga, Yin Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, Yin-Yang Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Flow Yoga, Breathworks, Train the Trainer, Corporate Yoga and Corporate Breathwork.
Cora has been teaching for over ten years in Yoga and Breathworks. She developed her own yogastyle, which is beyond yoga. Liquid Yoga it is called and Cora teaches in her studio and on several retreats. She just returned from a 21-day Retreat in Mexico as the Yoga Teacher at the retreat of Worldbreathmaster Dan Brule and she leads an annual retreat in Mozambique with Liquid Yoga and Liquid Breath. Liquid Yoga is a dance between Yoga and Breathing. It is beyond techniques, a deep heart felt feeling practice.
Since 2010 she practices with World Breath Master Dan Brule and assisted him on retreats in Cape Town, Lithuania and the Netherlands. In 2013 Cora practiced with Wim Hof, the Iceman, and trained with him in Poland to master different breathing technics in extremely cold circumstances.
Since 2011 Cora is providing weekly deep breathing sessions at Yogatrainer. This didn’t stay unnoticed and now Cora also travels frequently to many yoga studios in the Netherlands with her “Breath Awakening” session.
As a result of her broad experience Cora developed her own breath methodology called Liquid Breath which is also based on in-depth studies of many different breathing techniques. This year Cora is training Masterclasses to train trainers in her own practitioners program as well.
Cora definitely has her own unique style that can be best characterized as profound, confronting but with a lot of light where her healing hands, her voice and the use of rituals and fragrances will open you up and bring you deeper to your core. But you have to remember… “If you cannot stand the heat. Get out of the kitchen!”.

“Spiritual traveller, artist, human being.
From childhood on both music (my father was a musician too) and the longing to know about the Divine world and serve that, were present in my life. Played in different rockbands …while searching for spiritual life in different movements (from evangelical church to different Vaishnavasects). Along that way i always heared and felt the call to serve the Divine with music. Finally i started to do kirtan (encouraged by different spiritual teachers) and discovered that it is true what They are saying: “”There is no difference between the Names of God and God Her/Himself””. When you chant you open the door to your heart and magic is happening.”
Fiona organises weekly yoga, meditation and gong sessions in Brussels (Merode and Flagey) as well as Aspria Arts-Loi.

Goran is an internationally certified teacher and spreads yoga since almost 20 years. He started with classical hatha yoga in the sivananda tradition. After many visits to india practicing ashtanga yoga the path finally led him to iyengar yoga. At the moment he‘s teaching passionately in germany and the netherlands. His way of teaching is very bright and challenging.
Goran also guides you systematically through a meditation class. By doing soft pranayama and getting aware of certain parts in the body it becomes more easy to let go of your thoughts and become one.
More about him:
Because of back problems, I began practicing Hatha Yoga in the Sivananda tradition in 1999 with the help of a book. Shortly thereafter, I studied physiotherapy in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. I quickly realized that the passion to learn more about yoga was greater, so that a first two-year training as a recognized Hatha Yoga teacher (BYV / Yoga Alliance) followed in 2002 in Essen at Yoga-Vidya. During that time I also began teaching, first in small circles, then regularly at various institutions in Kleve and Nijmegen.
The curiosity and fascination of the healing power of yoga finally led me to Ashtanga Yoga in India in 2008. There I completed a three-month intensive training under BNS Iyengar at the Parakala Mutt University Mysore, where once the legendary T. Krishnamacharya taught. He is the guru of Iyengar, Pattabhi Jois and several other renowned yoga masters of the world. Then by chance, in 2010, I met Mr. Iyengar in Rishikesh, India! It was like a little revelation to practice this kind of yoga so clearly and directly to the point.
I visited the Iyengar Ramamani Institute in Pune three times in total. I finally completed a thorough three-year training as an internationally certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher (I.V.N / I.V.D) in 2014 in Amsterdam. There I am still training regularly at weekend seminars with ‘senior’ teachers. The prerequisite for this training is three years of yoga practice, thus ensuring a high quality standard. Since 2007, I travel to India every year to deepen my yoga studies.

Romona began teaching yoga in Brussels in 2008, and qualified as a yoga therapist through the JohnScott Yoga (Cornwall).
She have studying various approaches to yoga and alternative therapies since 2004, and regularly learn from teachers in India, Japan, Europe, and US. Most of her work involves individualised yoga or mindfulness-based therapy, using Chinese medicine/ Shiatsu, Yogic and Buddhist principles to support treatment.
She believe in teaching people, not poses, which makes each class unique, focused and transformative, responding to the needs and energy of the moment. The postural practice is just one gateway to understanding yoga, with the ultimate aim of becoming a more fully aware, balanced and integrated being.
Life’s challenges present opportunities for personal and spiritual growth, and serve as signposts on the path to awakening. Ashtanga yoga, Japanese (DO-In) yoga, Pranayama (breath work) and meditation practice is healing, empowering and inspiring. It’s deeply satisfying to watch people tap into their potential and discover and transform themselves through ancient wisdom teachings.

“Let me start by introducing myself, my name is Thabo and it is my great passion to share in the method that helped me a lot. I was born in Lesotho (South Africa) and grew up in the Netherlands.
Since I can remember, I have had one big wish, to alleviate the suffering of people. After an international career in hospitality management, I discovered the amazing tools of Pranic Healing and Arhatic Yoga. They not only helped me, but they can also help you. To increase your health or wellbeing but also to give you a deeper insight into who you really are.
Now, 5 years later I have seen the miracle of increased health through the use of energy happen to several people and whether or not they believe or not, Pranic Healing works. As Dr. Nikola Tesla said, “If you want to understand the secrets of the universe, think in energy, vibration and frequency. Everything is energy and Pranic Healing rebalances your energy. If your energy balanced your life is balanced.
In addition to my love for Pranic Healing, I am also a great lover of yoga, philosophy and science (astro physics, quantum physics, theoretical physics). I study Western and Eastern esoteric schools. It is a great passion for me to connect the energetic reality of the esotericism with science. The truth is universal and Pranic Healing has helped me embrace that.”

Josick Van Dromme
“Josick is passionate about yoga and veganism, as they go hand in hand to build a more conscious, non-violent and healthy life. And she loves to share her long experience in both!
She proposes a comprehensive approach based on the tradition of yoga, including philosophy, anatomy, postural practice, breathing and physio-energetic techniques, relaxation and meditation.
She was lucky enough to receive a 500h teachers’ training from Belgian master Thierry van Brabant, learning how yoga can be used as a toolbox and gradually colour each and single aspect of one’s life. Since then she has never stopped learning and training in more specialised approaches, especially yoga for children, prenatal yoga, yoga for back problems, Yin yoga, Yoga Wall as well as Prana Vinyasa Flow. And she has enjoyed sharing this knowledge with others!
She is also committed to a personal practice daily including poses, breathing and meditation every morning to make both body and mind fit for the day ahead, and every evening to cleanse the mind, balance the energy for the night and connect with the infinite.
Before discovering yoga, she chose a vegetarian diet 30 years ago and is now fully vegan to avoid causing suffering to other beings.”
Johanna Tilly started her yoga journey with kids yoga when she was a just little girl. Being an active, busy and restless person, yoga quickly turned into her safe haven, her moment of peace and relaxation. After many years of practice, she completed her 200 hour teaching training in New York City in 2013 and has been teaching in various countries including Japan, Germany and Belgium since. Johanna is now based in Brussels.
In 2016/17 during her pregnancy she fell in love with prenatal yoga and promptly decided to complete an internationally recognised pre- and postnatal yoga teacher training.
For the past 2.5 years she has been teaching pre- and postnatal yoga all over Belgium and beyond and feels she has truly found her passion in this field! Johanna is also a baby massage and exercise specialist and has come up with a unique ‘parents and baby class’ combining her passion for yoga, baby development and parent and baby bonding. It’s a class for ALL parents – with no previous yoga experience necessary. Additionally, Johanna is also an internationally qualified kids yoga teacher for kids of all ages. She loves making yoga fun and accessible for all children by incorporating stories, music and play into her classes!
Additionally, she enjoys working with families and little yoga groups of friends in the comfort of their homes. Families love her introduction to a relaxing and fun yoga practice that all family members can enjoy together, learning new poses. No previous yoga experience needed.
Johanna further loves working with companies and organisations to help create a less stressful work environment. No yoga room needed – Most exercises can be done at your desk/ on a chair 🙂

Peter discovered yoga when he was way past his forties. After practicing different styles such as Hatha, Kundalini and Iyengar yoga for years, he decided to enroll in a teacher training in 2011, with Alberto Paganini, in Bruges, Belgium. It provided a solid base for further trainings with Joe Barnett and more recently with Marc Beuvain.
Peter has been teaching down to earth yoga independently since 2013. He has been a vegetarian for over 16 years now and went vegan 5 years ago. He sees it as his actual mission to inspire people to reconnect with their true selves and to live an authentic, healthy and sustainable life in full respect of themselves, all creatures great and small, and our beautiful planet with its natural resources.
He also is one of the founding fathers of Belgium’s new animal advocacy party DierAnimal.

Irene has started practising yoga in 2009 while working as a researcher in biology. Yoga was a revelation to her, since the first time on the mat she felt the direct and extraordinary connection between the body and the mental state. In 2012 she decided to deepen her knowledge and practice of yoga and she attended her first teacher training in the Bihar school tradition, Yogalife. Since then her personal and professional life have changed. Yoga and meditation is helping her to be fully present to what life offers, accepting and letting go what she cannot control.
She teaches yoga because she wants to share the many benefits of the practice, physically and mentally, with as many people as possible. All of that while continuing to grow her knowledge with leading teachers around the world.
“Yoga gives us the tools to listen to our body, our needs, discover and accept ourselves. The more I study and practice yoga the more I am convinced that the only place where we can find true peace and happiness is within us. “
Irene is also an Ayurveda, the ancient medicine from India, enthusiast. She is on her last year of study to become an Ayurveda therapist, while already practising Ayurvedic principles in her nutrition and life style.

Angelonel is practicing integral yoga and also teaches weekly classes as a certified yoga teacher in Ananda Esoterisch Yogacentrum in Antwerp*.
“I decided to go on an inner spiritual journey about 7 years ago, after quite some challenging events in my life; by looking within, intense practice and getting myself out of the usual comfort zone I succeeded to transform and give my life another turn.
One of the main tools to connect mind and body to my true Self are hatha yoga and meditation, as well as following the moral and ethical principles of Yama and Niyama. The key to transformation is bringing more and more awareness not only on the yoga mat but also in the daily life.”
Under the guidance of Angelonel, this session of integral yoga will bring you more harmony and balance of body, emotions and mind. The practice will include sun salutations, traditional asana’s, a music meditation and a final relaxation. The attention will be oriented inwards on different energy points or body areas.
*Ananda Esoteric Yoga Center is a member of “Atman – The International Federation of Yoga and Meditation”, which is a non-profit organization promoting true spiritual values. The same courses of Tantra and Yoga offered by Ananda in Brussels and Antwerp are also taught worldwide to thousands of other students by fellow Atman member schools.
Movement enthusiast, Budokon yoga & mobility teacher, Prana flow and yin yoga teacher, Fighting Monkey student, Céline loves to share her passion and the importance of moving one’s body in order to feel present and keep longevity!
My name is Bianca and I am teaching Ashtanga and Hatha yoga for 2 and a half years as I learned it from the master yogis of the foothills of the Himalaya mountains in Rishikesh, India. Yoga has brought into my life a deeper love of the self and others, serenity, understanding of the self and the world and very needed acceptance and I hope that together we can inspire others to find these treasures into their lives as well. Namaste!
“I came into contact with Yoga after a few years living in patterns that I did not feel belonged to. I graduated in Pharmacy and worked with it, but always had a sense of emptiness. After some years I did a post-graduation in Acupuncture (Alternative and Traditional Chinese Medicine) and then my life started to change.
Sports always been present in my life and with a high desire to deepen in myself, Yoga has came to me. Soon, I realized that Yoga had much more to offer me, more than just physical benefits, it calms the mind and allows us to have more self-knowledge. Yoga became my path and remains in the present moment.
After a while it was a small step to register for a Hatha Yoga Teacher Training course, in Brazil. Now, I’m travelling to visit yoga places all over the world. It is enormously inspiring to get lessons from different teachers and in different yoga styles. In addition to Hatha Yoga, I also practice Vinyasa, Ashtanga and Asudra Yoga.
For me Yoga is a way of life. It’s easy, suitable for everyone, and brings enormous mental, physical and emotional well-being.
I am eager to share my passion with you. See you in class!”
Sofie Van Braekel
“As a holistic health coach, I believe that body, mind and soul are all interconnected. With my background in Psychology, Orthomolecular Nutrition and Yin Yoga, I work on those 3 levels.
Through deep stretches that are held for a couple of minutes, Yin Yoga helps to release physical, emotional or energetical blockages that are stored deep inside our bodies in the connective tissue.
Deep breathing works as an anchor to stay firmly connected with your body, go inside to ‘feel’ and let go off tension throughout the practice.
Yin Yoga is also a good counterweight for the sometimes hectic western ‘yang’ world we live in, as we always need an equal amount of yin and yang to keep ourselves in balance.
My mission is to help others to become the best version of themselves and I would be very happy to share my knowledge with you.
Hope to see you on the mat, Namasté!
I’m Jeremy, Initiated into Ashtanga Vinyasa in India and I have followed Yoga teacher training 200h , I also turned to other forms of Yoga.
Union of body, mind and breath through different methods and channels.
I wanted to enrich my experience to unite people with the yoga of laughter
and children with their parents by favouring the acroyoga family.
“It’s life balance and wellbeing that attracted Masha to yoga. After all, yoga teaches us the art of being present, self-care and nurturing our soul with meditation and our breath.
Masha has been practicing yoga for almost a decade now, after completing her yoga teacher training with Sivananda yoga, in 2010. Since then she has become interested in mindful living and thus completed an eight-week long mindfulness course at the Brussels Mindfulness Institute. During her teachings and encounters with her yoga students, she has developed a great passion for yin yoga for which she completed an additional teacher training at the Brussels Yoga Loft. Masha is a Brussels based yoga teacher, her teaching styles include vinyasa, yin and prenatal yoga.”

Boabom is an ancient art of movement with roots in the martial arts of pre-Buddhist Tibet. There is a gentle way (Seamm Jasani) and a powerful way (Boabom). Movement combined with breathing is the key to enhance your inner power and vitality and to relax your mind.
Ariana is a Boabom teacher originally from Honduras, she organizes the Boabom lessons in Leuven where she now lives. After a some years practicing Boabom Ariana found herself walking up a mountain and automatically breathing in the Boabom way. It was a decisive moment, she felt that this was something that she needed to share.
