Programme: Dublin Yoga and Vegan Festival

Join Dublin’s second annual Yoga and Vegan Festival in the heart of city at Trinity College Dublin. You can participate in Yoga and meditation sessions, treat your taste buds to some delicious plant-based foods, try henna body art, enjoy relaxing massages, attend talks on subjects of health and wellbeing (including mental health) and do lots more. There will also be free Yoga classes for children to make this a perfect family day out. Please see below to know the format of the festival.

Class 1 @ 09.00-9.45:
Flowing with the Prana via Vinyasa Yoga Manasi Sridhar

An energising, dynamic vinyasa flow yoga class, incorporating breath work for connection with mind, body and soul. This style of yoga is characterized by stringing postures together so that you move from one to another, seamlessly, using breath. In vinyasa yoga, each movement is synchronized to a breath. The breath is given primacy, acting as an anchor as you move from one pose to the next.

The variable nature of Vinyasa Yoga helps to develop a more balanced body as well as prevent repetitive motion injuries that can happen if you are always doing the same thing every day.

This class taught by the Indian Yoga teacher, Mansi, who grew up in the heartland of Yoga – the south of India. With the focus on prana (literally translated as breath), this class will leave you buzzing happily throughout the day as you develop a deep connection with your breath in the class. Class 2 @ 10.00-10.45:
Invoking the Balariddhi: Power Yoga Flow Class for Strength with Reg

The Sanskrit word, ‘Bala’ means strength, so Balariddhi refers to “extraordinary strength of mind and body. There is no limit to what your body can achieve, if you put your mind to it. This class will focus on enhancing the core strength (bala).In this workshop, you will learn the right breathing technique, posture and props that are needed to stand on your elbows, head and hand.

This class is led by a vegan Yoga teacher, Reg, who regularly teaches in Dublin, to show you how to use the strength in your body and mind to do challenging Yoga postures. Total beginners with some level of fitness are welcomed. Not suitable for pregnant women or people with high blood pressure and diabetes.

Class 3 @ 11.00-11.45:
Ashtanga Yoga Fundamentals for All

The Ashtanga method of asana practice originated in 1900s in the city of Mysore in India, and was developed by T. Krishnamacharya, who is considered as the father of modern Yoga.In Ashtanga Yoga, the order of asanas is entirely predefined, which distinguishes it from most other types of yoga. A practice consists of four parts: Opening series, a main series, a back-bending sequence and a finishing sequence.

This class is led by an experienced Ashtanga Yoga teacher, [Teacher’s name to be confirmed]. She is going to teach a dynamic, strong class, going through the fundamental asanas of Primary series. Beginning by connecting with the ujayii breath, students will move through the key asanas of primary series – sun salutations, standing, balances, seated, hip-openers, back bends and finishing. Yoga Disco with Yoga Sound System

Join this fun Yoga Rave to bring out the conscious clubbers in you. This class, suitable for all ages and abilities, combines Yoga poses and meditation with some fantastic music and dancing to take you one step closer to Nirvana.
It’s simple, don’t take yourself, the yoga or the disco too seriously. It’s about moving, grooving, meeting new people and embracing a new way to enjoy a night out that won’t leave you exhausted the next day. You’ll laugh, make friends, sweat a little and boogie to some classic bangers.
Yoga Disco is revolutionising the way we do yoga and how we socialise in our evenings, brought to you from the organisers of Morning Gloryville Dublin and Yoga Sound System.

Hatha Yoga with Ravi

Hatha yoga is the oldest branch of yoga. The Sanskrit word haṭha literally means “force” and thus alludes to a system of physical techniques. The Hatha Yoga Pradīpikā is a classic fifteenth-century Sanskrit manual on hatha yoga, written by Svāmi Svātmārāma, is among the most influential surviving texts on hatha yoga.

A class on traditional Hatha Yoga, as taught in India, including Pranayama breathing techniques (Pranayama), asana (core Yoga postures) practice and meditation. This authentic yoga class taught by Ravi, the Indian Yoga guru who is coming all the way from London, will also have a focus on connecting breath with movement to bring harmony to body and mind. Dynamic Rasa Feel Good Flow for hips, lower back and body with Rani

Get ready to remove tension and develop flexibility in your hips, hamstrings, back and the overall lower body in this dynamic vinyasa Flow class. The teacher leading this class, Rani Sheilagh ( yogarani ), is a Feel Good Guide & Joy Generator who has been teaching yoga, meditation and mindfulness, and facilitating whole-health & wellness for over 17 years.

Her contemporary mindful approach and Dynamic Rasa teaching method has evolved over many years of deep practice, ongoing study, self-enquiry and experience to meet the diverse and unique challenges of navigating through modern-day life.

Class 7 @ 15.00-15.45:
Iyengar Yoga with Greg

Iyengar Yoga, named after and developed by B. K. S. Iyengar, is a form of Hatha Yoga that has an emphasis on detail, precision and alignment in the performance of posture (asana) and breath control (pranayama). The development of strength, mobility and stability is gained through the asanas.

What distinguishes Iyengar yoga from other Yoga styles is the very high degree of attention paid to alignment. This helps prevent injury and overuse and makes the practice therapeutic in nature.

This class will be lead by one of Dublin’s most well-known Iyengar Yoga instructor, Greg, who has been practising Yoga for over two decades.

Slow Flow for Ultimate Relaxation and Stress Relief with Hot Yoga Dundrum

Slow Flow is one of the most relaxing style of Yoga that allows you to make a deep connection with your body and release hidden tension. Perfect way to put yourself in a zen-line state and create a strong sense of inner peace. This class is suitable for beginners

This workshop for all levels lead by Sophia, combines a gentle yoga flow with mindfulness and meditation.

This workshop will energize and empower you and encourage you to express yourself freely to practice a yoga flow filled with passion and vitality.

Class 9 @ 17.00-17.45:
Shivam Yoga with Shivam Yoga

Traditional Shivam Yoga is named after a form of yoga founded on Shankhya and Tantra philosophies, some of the oldest philosophies of India.It is based on techniques such as balance, stretching, strength, rotation of spine, breathing exercises, meditation, relaxation, and mantras.

In this class, you will get an opportunity to learn these techniques from ancient Indian civilization from students of the famous 66-years-old Brazilian Yoga guru and published author, Master Arnaldo de Almeida. All levels are welcome in class.

In addition to taking part in Yoga classes, you can also attend some very interesting workshops and activities at Dublin Yoga and Vegan Festival. All sessions in this area are free if you have a ticket to attend at least one Yoga class. There is no need to book for these sessions. Everyone is welcome 🙂
