Indian sweets don’t always have to be deeply fried and loaded with white sugar, there is a way to please your sweet tooth without compromising the health quotient. Try this delightful recipe of making popular Indian dessert called ‘ladoos’ – sweet balls.
This recipe uses a lot of healthy fats such as nuts and virgin (non-processed) coconut oil and dates which are naturally sweet.
I have tried this recipe many times in different countries with different people – everyone seems to love it.
The best part is that you don’t have to cook anything! You just need a good grinder or food processor.
1. Grind flaxseeds and cashews into a fine powder and keep aside
2. Grind figs and dates together till they form a thick paste
3. Grind powdered cashews, figs and dates paste together
4. Add Elaichi (cardamom) powder and saffron
5. Grind again
Finally, add coconut oil and blend for 10 seconds
You’ll get a nice dough
Start making ladoos from the dough and add more coconut oil for grease. Roll the balls in coconut flakes and refrigerate for 3 hours so that they set well.
