What is Yoga?

What is Yoga?

Today, yoga is so ingrained in our lives that it’s hard to find someone who doesn’t have at least a vague idea of what it is.

Yoga is an ancient spiritual practice that came to us from India. It consists of eight stages, touching all aspects of human existence – from adhering to moral principles, working with the body and with the breath, to more subtle techniques for controlling the psyche, mind and consciousness. In today’s world yoga is mostly understood as body work. In the practice of asanas – body postures – there are elements of other levels as well. This is the reason for all the positive effects of practicing yoga.

In yoga like nowhere else, what’s important is the direction and the school. At our centers we do classical hatha yoga according to the method of Sri B.K.S. Iyengar. Being included in Time magazine’s one hundred most influential people in the world in 2004, Iyengar introduced innovation within the tradition.

His method is characterized by a very precise, meticulous, alignment of the body in asanas, which achieves a profound physiological and therapeutic effect. We use auxiliary materials – mats, bolsters, bricks, belts, blankets and many other things, which allow people of any level of training to perform the posture correctly, so that it had a positive healing effect on the body.
